TALES ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING
Whirlpools are natural events, dude! Caused by nature, they leave the same way they appear! Said John to his wife Mary!
See those Salmons floundering in the shallow waters of the river! — it must be because of the hot temperatures! She uttered! ——Or perhaps they are trying to get drowned! Completed Mary! Maybe they are just torturing themselves against the bottom of the river! Although they are not like humans! Humans chose deep waters to drown!
Salmons are fish dude! And fishes don't get drowned, probably they just want to be snatched by bears! Or caught by a fisherman!
— -you can almost catch them with your bare hands, dude!
— hey what the heck is going on !
Swift waters meet from opposing torrents causing a downward spiraling action. The whirlpool Starts to push the couple's little boat downward, putting their lives in extreme danger despite the warnings. Before they left! But after paddling for a while against the river stream, they managed to take their boat safe to shallow waters! And then aimed to the river shore!
John and Mary Austin have been married for ten years already! They never had their honeymoon! Ten years after they married they find themselves on the road to Woodburn pole a small touristic town in the middle of an Indian reservation! They come to spend a week in the country! And go down the river in a canoe! And see the salmon! They have reservations at the creek hotel! Hot temperatures in summer have caused impaired waters in many of the region's rivers and killed a lot of fish! But that didn't stop them to book a reservation and make the descent in a canoe! Negative effects of the dams and water reservoirs along the rivers basins, don't help much I am sure! Climate change raised the temperatures of the water! Climate change can impact freshwater ecosystems upon which salmon depend! Global climate change warm waters …are the principal threat to salmon recovery! We see this kind of news in the media every day! Plus the local intensive agriculture with its chemicals making flood occurs to contaminate all the fresh waters. Endangering many salmons' species! But this was the place they chose to spend the weekend. And be with nature anyway!
They stayed at the local little hotel! A little charm hotel in the middle of an Indian reservation! The Woodburn pole creek hotel.
It used to be an old Indian trade pole! And it still belongs to the tribe nowadays! Although converted into a hotel! The creek hotel has it known all around the neighborhood… It got only two floors! And eight rooms! The rooms are all on the first floor, all eight rooms got toilets and a shower! John and Mary Austin stayed in the hotel suite, the larger room with a larger bed!
— — it feels good …the bed! Don't you think it's comfortable? Said, John. To his wife …
— — yes it is …. I'm feeling asleep already …and it's so large! Answered Mary!
— — — sleep tight …you need to be in good shape tomorrow when we go down that river! Wished John!
— — ok make sure you wake me early in the morning! Demanded Mary to her husband!
John and Mary woke early the next morning with the first rays of sunlight! In the threes nearby the sparrows sang! As if they were wishing them good morning! It was going to be a nice day in the mountains! They were hungry before breakfast. So they asked for the complete deal with eggs, coffee, milk mashed potatoes, and bacon! As soon as they ended breakfast their guide arrived. It was a local tribe guide they were very lucky because it was a very experienced guide his name was blackbird! Blackbird told them to be ready to leave in five minutes.
Outside the creek hotel, some curious were gathering. And one grasped Mary by her arm and pushed her back saying — — hey you are the tourists ain't you …be very careful out there in mountain …when you're going down the river …there's a whirlpool after the swifts … it's very dangerous, someone died there already this year!
— -hey go away …said blackbird! Don't scare our guests like that. Or they won't come to Woodburn pole anymore! — — you guys don't worry, it's just a local fool. Everything is going to be alright. He does the same warning to all the tourists that come to the creek hotel! — — that's alright he didn't scare us much said Mary in a lower voice. We are ready when you are! Ok, let's go said finally blackbird! Their Indian guide! Pointing to the road!
The creek hotel has a pole a few miles up the mountain following the river, with canoes for the tourists who want to go down the river in a canoe enjoying the river swifts! It took them three hours walking to get there, but finally, they arrived. — — this is it said blackbird! Now you're on your own.
— ok this is what we came for. Let's do it! Are you ready said John to his wife Mary? — —yes I am … this is what we came for! Let's do it dude … yeah!
— -Alright yeah !!! Let's go down those rapids! And show everybody we are capable of doing it …
They started their descent. Down the river and as they looked back they saw their Indian guide waiving from the shore with one hand. They waived back —see you down there, in Woodburn pole. — -he seems to be a nice fellow don't you think John? — — yes he looks like a pleasant fellow, and I'm sure he his a good fellow! — — and what about that other guy at the hotel! Wandered Mary! — -that guy with the warning that there's a whirlpool somewhere down the steam of the river? — — yes that guy …do you think he was right, and the story is true! — — whirlpools are natural events dude … caused by the forces of nature .they probably disappear the same fashion they appear! — — see those salmons floundering in the shallow waters over there? Do you think they are trying to get drowned? — — I don't think so … I think they are just torturing themselves against the bottom of the river! If they were like humans they had chosen deeper water to drown!
— — hey don't you think the water is dragging us? That direction? Uttered Mary! The river waters are getting swifter here!
— -hey look over there what's that? ooh! My god is that the whirlpool they were talking about?
— -yes, and it's starting to drag us into it! look the water is forming a spiral going downwards to the bottom of the river! — — start paddling in the opposite direction, or we will be dead! — — ok, I'm doing the best I can answer Mary nervous! — — aim to the shore come on, we are going to make it, we are almost out of the river stream!
— -Huff ! We made it! Let's hide the canoe in the woods and go down to the hotel walking! — — very well let's walk down, we are almost there anyway!
The local folks looked surprised to see them come walking! Blackbird was the first to question them — - what happened? Did you lose your canoe up there?
That guy this morning was right … there was a whirlpool in the middle of the river a few miles up the mountain from here! We almost died there. But thank god we saw it in time, because of the guy warning, and we manage to paddle for our lives and aim to the shore right in time.
