THE SINKHOLE

TALES ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING

Can we use a mathematical equation to determine the extension of our ignorance? Her student asked!

— -yes, you can! You can use mathematic equations to find out where the things you don't know yet, are hidden!

Groundwater drawdown caused by excessive rain may conceal a sinkhole! It has to do with the quality of the dirt or soil under surfaces like roads, parking lots, or gardens! With excessive amounts of rain, the dirt becomes muddy! And after years of heavy rain surfaces collapse down, forming a sinkhole!

Another morning in paradise! To avoid traffic, Ann pope drives like she always do! all other mornings, true the detour road…the old road! The one that goes behind the town, where she lives! And got less traffic! Because it's less used She's been doing this maneuver to escape morning traffic for years now .she learned it when workers come to repair the main road a few years ago …and used the old road as a detour for local traffic! And it has worked well for her henceforth!

She is a mathematics teacher in the local college! Ann is forty-four years old but she looks thirty! She's got long brown hair and little brown eyes hidden behind a pair of ophthalmological glasses! She is a traditional mathematic teacher born and raised in this town she had the best teachers and mentors, so it became easy for her to follow the teaching path herself! Furthermore, she likes what she does …its the best profession in the world !mathematics teacher ! she got MacLaurin equation prepared and a bit of Euler's equation for today's class …

All her students were already waiting inside the classroom for her when she arrived …a thing that she appreciates very much! To see her students behaving well…at least as she enters the classroom door as a sign of respect from the students … As soon as she entered the classroom, She started the class right away … — -today we are studying the MacLaurin equation.be attentive I ain't got all the time in the world ! MacLaurin series formula helps in writing a function …she continued! — hey teacher! Can we measure up the extension of our ignorance using MacLaurin equations?

— -yes you can! She answered …you can determine everything you don't know yet using math equations!

— — ok I will do that!

— — you all be quiet and listen now….time to show some devotion! Please!

The class went well… and as soon as she less expected it was over! Ann was the first to leave the classroom! She was not feeling very well today, so she decided to take the rest of the day off! She had two more classes to teach. But her health comes first…

— -no more classes today, you all can go home!!!

She wanted to go home and rest herself …tomorrow she would be fine again! As she was walking towards her car parked outside. She was thinking about what her student asked her! Can we use MacLaurin equations to determine the extension of our ignorance? She thought that there are lots of things we can discover with equations. And why was she feeling sick was definitively one of them! What about trying to find a better reason to solve equations while laying in bed with a cup of tea in hand! Then wonder about oneself…and what hides in our soul…

On the way home there's a little church! Santa Theresa's of Jesus church! A place that Ann pope, knew so well just by looking while driving on her way home every day. But where she had never been! Because she never had the time to stop! Today as she was driving home earlier. She felt an urge to stop for a while. And get to know that church she thought she knew so well, just for passing by. She had an invisible relationship with that little Santa Theresa of Jesus church. Something that she can't explain! Something related to faith!

She parked her car a Škoda… in the parking lot by the left side of the church…she loved her car, it was almost new! Just four years have passed since she had brought it brand new! She closed the car door and walked to the door in front of the church. When she got there she noticed there was something written above the entry door.in big letters.

— — I want to spend my heaven doing good over the earth!

Those were the words of Santa Theresa of Jesus herself, written above the entry door! She entered it was dark inside the church. Lightened just by a candle on the altar. suddenly Ann heard a voice calling her. — -Excuse me, madam. Aren't you Ann pope the mathematics teacher?

— — yes I am! She answered in a low voice. To whom am I spiking?

— — -I am father Mathew … I'm the Sacerdotal priest in this temple!

— — it's so quiet in here! Says Ann.

— -i know what you mean ! All temples look the same… I've been expecting you …do you believe that? I do … I knew that you were coming to visit us today. .. Every day I see you passing by from work. I know it's you by the sound of your car engine!

— -are you serious father Andrew ?

— — yes I am … I have something to tell you, and I was waiting for you to come today! I want you Ann pope to do me a favor… if you think you can do me one!

— -sure, go ahead father …ask me …put me to test!

— — I want you to promise me you will stay home for the next three days! And then you are free to go to work again! Can you promise me this?

— — I'm not feeling very well anyway … so of course, I promise you, father …yes I will stay home for the next three days.

— — good! Said father Andrew with a smile … I will pray for you now …let me hold your hand! And you are free to go after …

After father Andrew's prayers, Ann pope left Santa Teresa of Jesus little church and went home to rest. She stayed home resting the three days she promised father Andrew and that period of time passed she was feeling a lot better and ready to go back to school to her mathematics classes .when she turned to the detour road she found a roadblock with police stopping everybody from fall into a huge sinkhole that had formed the day before. Somehow nobody had fallen into it, and now the police were there.

Ann pope At that moment felt like her head was spinning around trying to think what happened there in that detour road she uses to go to work every day! Why wasn't she there at the bottom of that sinkhole? And then she kept remembering she had stopped for the first time in her life in that little Santa Theresa of Jesus church and that she had a conversation with father Andrew. And that she had promised him to stay three days without leaving home. And that probably saved her life she was so grateful! She wanted to thank all for being alive! Even her student from the Maclaurin formula class was the one that asked her that day . Hey, teacher is there a mathematical equation to determine the extension of our ignorance? Those words were still running in her head, but she was starting to accept everything that happened as if everything was made with a greater proposal or plan from God and that was what really matters …that tanks to god she was still alive and back to her daily routine!
